From the day I first made my own body butter, I haven’t let any thing else on my skin, and my skin has been so happy after that! Before switching over to my own hand whipped body butter, buying a good body lotion/ cream was always a challenge. I would find myself standing in front of those aisles forever, reading the labels and trying to figure what all those chemicals are for? To be honest, I couldn’t even understand how many of them are good and how many are not! When I came across the recipe for body butter I decided to give it a try, and the results were amazing. From that day onward, I’ve always made my own body butter and simply loved it every time!!
Here’s the recipe for you all:
INGREDIENTS:
Shea butter: 1/2 cup
Jojoba oil: 1/4 cup
Coconut oil: 1/4 cup
Lavender essential oil: 15-20 drops
METHOD:
Take shea butter and whip it using a whisk.
Whip it till it almost doubles in size and a peak is formed
Add coconut oil and jojoba oil. You can use any other vegetable oil like almond, apricot oil etc.
Whip it again till you get the desired consistency. I personally like a little more goey texture than a stiff creamy one. For which I add more oil than butter.
Add essential oil
Mix it well and pour it in an air tight container. This cream hold its creamy consistency on room temperature so no need to put it in fridge. Mine stays in my hot and humid bathroom (in Bangkok!) and stays same.
